Timothy Gunatilaka is a journalist turned creative director committed to stories that connect audiences to technology, finance, spirits, health, retail, and luxury brands across digital and social platforms. Currently in the top 40 of The Drum's World Rankings of Creative Directors, Timothy’s work has won Grand Prix and Gold Lions at Cannes, D&AD Pencils, a Webby, a One Show Gold Pencil, ADC Gold, ANA Excellence, and Clio—and also been featured by The Atlantic, Wired, Forbes, Fortune, Ad Age, Fast Company, Nieman Lab, Vulture, Gizmodo, and The Verge as best-in-class examples of content marketing.

As a filmmaker, he has screened shorts at Oscar-qualifying film festivals across the country and been named a quarterfinalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting. A first-generation mutt, born of a Sri Lankan father and Filipino mother, he is drawn to stories exploring the intersections of identity, belonging, and the messy contradictions of American life.

As a journalist, his writing has appeared in publications such as Entertainment Weekly, SPIN, and Paper Magazine. An alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University, he grew up in northern California before residing in Brooklyn with an irascible chow chow named Maxwell
